It has recently occurred to me as I work my insurance business and plan the growth and future of Homestead Insurance Agency, that many of my clients and small business owners have the same dreams and desires. I have the Business Plan, the Growth Projections, and the belief that my dream will mature into a mega agency. My dream started with a laptop computer on my dining room table or the spare bedroom crunching the numbers to determine when I could make the transition from employee to entrepreneur. I constantly viewed Shark Tank to make sure no one would steal my patent.
Along the way, I have had encouragement and support from family, friends, and colleagues that believed in my dream and skills. I am the most fortunate person I know for the support system that I am encircled in.
I have a new client family that I want to recommend to you. Megan Bostick is the creator and artesian of The Spice Of Real Life. I have no doubt in the future she will give Paula Dean and Martha Stuart a run for their TV time and market share. Megan’s dream is to share her love of family, cooking, and home life with all of us. She has a great web page where she shares with all of us want to be’s on a regular basis, health, nutrition, home life, and great common sense on how to preserve our family values and traditions. I hope you will check this out, she is also on Pinterest with a loyal following. I love her cooking made simple recipes and tips. It is a pleasure to be associated with Megan and her family.
Megan has no doubt invested in her craft. From specialize cooking and baking utensils, party favors and decorations, computer and printer, cameras, video recorders, and the like. I would not doubt she is writing a virtual cookbook at this very moment. Where my dream is now a full business operation, Megan’s dream is still in the developmental planning phase.
So, as her agent when we began to talk about her dream, we also talked about the way we will protect the items and tools that she uses. This would apply not just to Megan but to everyone that has personal property (tools) that they are using to develop future business endeavors. All of Megan’s tools are covered by her homeowner’s insurance. This is typically called Coverage “C”-Personal Property. So in addition to her furnishings and everything her husband has in the garage, her tools for her dream are covered as well.
Megan will not require a business policy until she begins a business. For example, if she does catering, event planning, has clients coming to her home for cooking lessons, then we will need to provide a liability policy to protect the client and Megan from any damage or hardship. As long as she is giving opinions and blogging her personal experiences, she has adequate coverage. I would recommend that you review the amount of your personal property coverage to make sure in event of a loss that your dreams would not be effected. Personal property limits can be increased to your values and often times have “internal limits”. Make sure that you are aware of the limits so you are not surprised at claim time. You can always “schedule” items that remove the policy deductible and give you exact replacement or stated value coverage. PLEASE…do not underestimate your property thinking that the savings of a few dollars will be worth the gamble.
I would be happy to hear your dream and review your coverage. Please contact me at Homestead Insurance
